On the 26th of May, »United in Rowing« event will be held by Iztok Čop in Ljubljana.
United in Rowing will be a presentation of rowing as a form of exercise, as well as promotion of the sport of rowing, healthy lifestyle, entertainment, role modeling and responsibility towards society.
One of the goals of the event is to remind public, that the essence of sport is not just gladiatorship, winning regardless the price, egoism…, but the fact that sport connects and unites (sometimes even what seems to be incompatible), goes beyond borders, sees no prejudices, and besides body also strengthens the sprit.
This is why Iztok has invited different people to join the event and compete (in mixed groups) on the rowing machines:
- elite rowers (including Olympic Champion Olaf Tufte of Norway)
- Slovene sports legends (alpine skiers Mateja Svet and Jure Franko, hockey player Rudi Hiti, and basketball player Peter Vilfan)
- kids and teenagers with special needs from Special Education Center Janez Levec
- recreational athletes
- Sports reporters.
A relay competition on the rowing machines among students of three Slovene Universities will also be held on the venue.
There will also be a Dunking Devils Acrobatic Basketball Team with their fascinating show that combines basketball and acrobatic skills into an acrobatic slam dunk show.
Mayor of the city of Ljubljana, Mr. Zoran Janković is the honorary patron of the event.
